is more than a coffee shop. Between the cafe and the tavern, The Blue Chair brings the best of Sewanee together, whether you want to sit back with a book or laptop computer (free wi-fi) and a great cup of coffee, or to meet with a friend or business client over lunch, or even to play trivia on a Tuesday night with a beer.

You gotta see where we get our granola! It's made locally, is a good cause, and is loved by Taylor Swift!
American Pale Ale: Named after Davy Crockett’s wife, Sally Ann “Thunder Ann Whirlwind” Crockett, this ale is brewed to highlight beautiful citrusy American hops. She comes off almost tropical; people will find notes of apricot and mango in addition to the citrus bouquet. Honey and biscuit malts contribute to the body, as well, making it a friendly yet bold APA.
Red Rye Ale: A twist on a traditional Irish red recipe, using classic earthy UK hops and caramel malts. We gave it our own Tennessee twist by adding flaked rye to mash. Rompo is a very smooth drinking brew with notes of fruit and caramel, while the rye contributes a spicy and clean finish.
Maple Brown Ale: Inspired by our Head Brewer Bailey’s Vermont roots, this ale is actually a scaled-up version of the first beer recipe she ever wrote. Pure maple syrup is infused during the conditioning phase and is noticeable from start to finish. Chocolate malts add roasted notes to the flavor and aroma. It is also more highly hopped than most browns to create a balanced yet complex brew.
